Costa Rica, What?

Costa Rica, What?

“Will and Sofia, we have something to tell you” his parents yelled.

“What’s that?” Will replied

“We are moving to Costa Rica!” his parents exclaimed.

“What???” I was surprised to hear that from my parents, but I knew I was in for a beautiful life.

Something I was looking forward to was the wonderful fruit. The first fruit I ate once we arrived in Costa Rica was a wonderful and juicy mamo chino. Mamo chinos have long black hairs that look like spikes all around the outside. You can bite into it to start to peel it or use a knife.

Mamon Chinos
The “Mamon Chino”, also known as “Rambutan”, is a colorful and interesting exotic fruit found on medium-sized tropical trees producing one of the most popular convenience snacks found in Costa Rica.  “A mainstay at farmers markets “ferias” countrywide, roadside fruit stands are another great place to find the freshest Mamon Chino. Traditionally eaten by easily peeling the fruit with your fingers (it practically peels itself into two pieces) or you can often see locals open them with a quick flick of their teeth, popping the fruit directly into their mouth. The sweet creamy pulp of the fruit is easily enjoyed by putting the sucking on the pulp, remembering not to swallow the large seed. Disposing of the seed takes a practiced spitting launch, or better educated friends discreetly discard it into their hand or the bag the fruits came in.”

There are a lot of delicious fruits to discover when you come to Costa Rica.

Another thing I should tell you is that there are really good chefs here. We had one put edamame into a pan and lit it on fire. It was so good. The Tico people are very nice.

The beaches here are truly beautiful. At some beaches there are some turtles that lay there eggs and if you get to the right beach at the right time you might be in for a surprise and get to see the turtles hatching and digging themselves out of the sand.

I hope you liked my story. It was such a good idea to move to Costa Rica.
